REVIEW: Kylie Cosmetics Blue Honey Palette // jessiepink1028

Hey, y’all! I know there are a lot of reviews on this palette already, but maybe my review can be helpful too? Anyway, starting with the basics.

As you can tell by the title, I will be reviewing the Kylie Cosmetics Blue Honey Palette Kyshadow. On Kylie’s website this retails for $38.00 USD. It comes with 9 pressed powder eye shadows–each eyeshadow contains 1.40 grams or 0.05 oz of product.

It comes with 5 matte shades 4 metallic shades. My favorite shade is Royal Jelly because its a metallic teal blue with gold duochrome finish. I also really like the way this palette is arranged with the finish and the colors. The corners and the middle shades are mattes and the 4 inbetween the corners and sides are metallics. I don’t know if she did this on purpose or not, but I thought it was a cool observation. The colors scheme of the palette is also super pretty! I like the warm tones but also the neutral/cool tones as well. Definitely my cup of tea.DTs4-LKVQAEwTKY

The formula of these shadows are nice. It’s super blendable without losing the pigmentation of the shadows. They go on beautifully and I have nothing to complain about. Except that it does not come with a mirror.

Screen Shot 2018-07-11 at 11.45.56 AMHere’s a warm tone look I did using this palette. I used Busy Bee, Sweet Thing, Honeymoon, Sweet Like Honey, and Bumble.

Overall, I do like this palette and I would recommend this palette to y’all! The color pigmentation is there, blends like a dream and the texture of the shadows are velvety smooth! Nothing more I could’ve asked for! So good job, Kylie!

REVIEW: LunarBeauty x Manny MUA | “Life’s A Drag” Palette // jessiepink1028

Hey y’all!

Long time, no talk. Sorry I have been MIA for a few months. But, I am back! By the title of this blog post, I will be reviewing a new makeup brand — LunarBeauty.

In the last couple of years, we’ve seen tons of beauty influencers, like HudaBeauty coming out with their own makeup collections. LunarBeauty is a makeup brand launched by Manny MUA. His first product release is the Life’s A Drag Eyeshadow Palette, which debuted on June 2, 2018. The palette features 14 shades — 6 neutral mattes, 2 micro glitter foiled shades, 6 bright colorful shades (5 mattes, 1 satin). The palette includes a mirror and a dual ended brush, all for $45.

A little background about the palette, Manny MUA told Glamour, “I wanted my first launch to come out with a bang—something exciting and creative—and eyeshadow is just such a fun color product. Plus, I love to do dramatic eye looks. I have throughout my whole entire career. So it’s a reflection of me being able to create not only a pretty neutral eye but also having pops of color. As for the name, Life’s a Drag, I started as Manny MUA in drag. I did a makeup look for Halloween. I had such an amazing experience, and that’s kind of what kicked it off for me. Being able to be expressive with makeup was everything.”

Let’s first talk about packaging. I LOVE the packaging! I know some people don’t like it because it might be a bit much, but have you seen any of Manny’s videos? He is extra and bold! So why not make his palette reflect him and his personality. The palette is heavier than I was expecting, which I like because it feels high quality.

Moving onto the actual shadows. All the shadows are pigmented and blends seemlessly. The mint green shade, Kiki, is not super pigmented (which Manny mentioned in his video). Manny said he wanted the color to be more like a transition shade. The black shade, Shady, (I love the names of the shadows in this palette) is pigmented but not too pigmented that it’s daunting to use. It’s very easy to build the color and blends amazing! Overall, I love this palette and the palette is very versatile.I’m so proud of Manny and his brand that I can’t wait to see what he brings to the table next!

Here are some looks I created with “Life’s A Drag”:

My Flaws | My Perfect Imperfections // jessiepink1028

I remember when AndreasChoice first came up with this tag on YouTube a few years ago. Now it’s slowly coming back around again. I saw this tag recently on YouTube by Weylie Hoang (ilikeweylie) and Sophia Chang (sophiachang) and Jenn Im (clothesencounters). I decided that I would join the bandwagon on this tag too now that I’m older; I feel like I am able appreciate my looks now than I did a few years ago in middle school and high school. So if you have never seen this tag or never heard of it, basically I tell y’all 3 things that I like about myself and 3 things I don’t like about myself. I also decided to do the bonus round of this that Jenn and Sophia and Weylie did which is 1 personality trait I like about myself and 1 personality trait I don’t like or that I need to work on about myself.

So here they are:

3 Things That I Like About Myself

  • I like my lips
    • I love how they aren’t too big or too small and they are plump.
  • I like my legs
    • I love how they are nice and toned. I also love how they look in skinny jeans and heels.
  • I like my eyes
    • I love that I have a little tiny crease  which opens my eyes more. I also love the shape of my eyes.

3 Things That I Don’t Like About Myself

  • Itty Bitty Community
    • I have small, non existent boobs (32A). But it doesn’t stop me from wearing push up bras and still wearing cute bralettes and bandeaus.
  • I don’t like my pinky fingers
    • My pinky fingers are small (well my entire hand is small) and crooked. My right pinky has a little bump on the side too.
  • I don’t like my nose
    • Like most Asians, I have a flat face, especially my nose. I wear glasses and it’s annoying having to push my glasses up often.

1 Personality Trait I Like About Myself

  • 1 personality trait I like about myself is that I am empathetic and I love connecting with people. I love listening to people and trying to connect with them on a more personal level and empathize they’re feelings.

1 Personality Trait I Don’t Like/ Need to Work On About Myself

  • 1 personality trait I don’t like or that I feel like I need to work on is procrastinating. I am lazy and I tend to procrastinate A LOT! I need to work on that haha

An Open Letter to the Girl He Loved Before Me // jessiepink1028

I don’t know you. You don’t know me. But I can’t help but think about you.

First off, you are undeniably beautiful. You are gorgeous and lovely and flawless, and it’s easy to see why he was in love with you. But I probably should have suspected that. You were able to catch his attention, which means you had to be pretty damn amazing. I wish I was writing this in bitterness to show you what you lost and how much I dislike you, but it isn’t. I don’t even hate you. This is a thank you letter.

I love him.

I love him more than I ever thought was humanly possible. He came out of nowhere and gave me everything I ever needed or wanted. We clicked instantly and it’s like we were made for each other. We are perfectly in sync. He’s my everything, but before I met him he wasn’t.

At one point, he was your everything. He was the one you loved and you saw the stars in his eyes. You held his hands, kissed his lips, and he probably looked at you like you gave him the world.

He has the sweetest heart. So I can only imagine the sweet words he said to you, the genuine effort he put into romantic gestures for you, and the way he took time to make you feel like the only girl in the world.

I know how all of this ended but I still have so many questions.

Did he say “I love you” the same way he does to me? Did he tell you that you were the most beautiful girl in the world? Did he tell you all of his past? Did he make you laugh? Did he hurt you? Why did you hurt him?

Did you love his sleepy voice in the morning like I do? Could you tell when he’s upset just by the change of his voice like I can? Could you calm the storms in him like I do? Did you listen when he needed someone to lean on like I do? Did you try to make up for all his past hurts like I want to? Did you make him truly happy? Did you ever really love him?

I think about those things anytime I hear him say your name. But, I also think about if you hadn’t been the way you were then I wouldn’t be the luckiest girl in the world and have this wonderful man by my side every single day.

By you breaking his heart, you made room for me. You left and I came.

Although I hate that you got to love him and hate even more because you hurt him, but I am thankful.

I am thankful that every day I get to wake up and fall asleep next to him. I’m thankful that I get to spend the day making him laugh.  I’m thankful that I found my best friend and soulmate. I’m thankful that I have him to run to when my world seems upside down and he sets it right. I’m thankful for our late night conversations about silly stuff, serious stuff, and everything in between. I’m thankful that I get to love him and show him what real love is. I’m thankful that we appreciate each other so much. I’m thankful that we both try so hard.

But above all, I’m thankful for his love.

Without you letting go of the most wonderful thing that’s ever happened to me, I wouldn’t be here the happiest I have ever been. So as much as I think about you and as jealous as I might feel some days, all I can really say is thank you.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

How to: Winged Eyeliner for Monolids

Here’s my step-by-step guide for how I create a winged eye for monolids. My personal favorite liner to work with is the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner. It’s a liquid liner pen that’s easy to use and always produces beautiful results.

Step 1

While I know some people like to start right at the inner corner of the eye, I personally like to start at the outer end, creating somewhat of a blueprint before I commit to drawing the entire line. I begin by drawing a diagonal line from the corner of my eye about halfway up toward the end of my eyebrow. This helps me map out the specific angle and shape of that flirty flick!

Step 2

Next, I like to create the entire ‘flick’ shape by drawing another line that meets with the first line to create a point. It’s best to draw this shape first and make sure you’re happy with it; if you’re not, you haven’t gone too far yet and you can use a Q-tip to erase and start over.

Step 3

Now that I’m happy with the shape, I’m going to go into the inner corner of my eye and begin drawing a line that extends all the way over to meet that second line you drew, finalizing the overall shape of my winged liner. Here’s a tip: When you’re drawing along your lash line, let the pen or brush fluidly move along the curve of your eyeball. This way you’ll create the perfect liner that suits the shape of your eye.

Step 4

All that’s left now is to fill in this shape I’ve created! I’m always careful to press the pen into my lash line really well so there are no gaps between my lashes and the liner.

Step 5

I like to tight line my eyes with a black eyeliner pencil and if I need to clean up, I will use concealer and concealer brush.

My Night Routine // jessiepink1028

8:00 pm Getting Home

My boyfriend and I normally eat out right after work so we don’t eat dinner at home. Around 8:00pm My boyfriend and I come home. We go straight to our room and I immediately change into comfy clothes.

After that, I get into bed and cuddle with my boyfriend. We talk about our day and also sit on our phones and scroll through social media/blog/watch youtube videos.

10:00 pm Getting Unready

Around 10:00 pm is when I start getting unready. I first take my Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Cleanser & Makeup Remover. After that, I wash my face with my Clarisonic Smart Profile and Cetaphil Daily Face Cleanser. Then I hop in the shower. I wash my hair two times a week with Shimmer Lights Conditioning Shampoo and Conditioner for Blonde and Silver Hair. I use a loofa and Cantu Hydrating Body Wash to wash my body. On days that I shave my legs I use my Schick Hydro Silk Razor and EOS Shave Cream.

11:00 pm Goodnight! ♥

Review: Charcoal Peel-off Mask // jessiepink1028

Ah yes, the infamous charcoal peel-off mask everyone on social media has been raving about. My mom owns a beauty supply store and when she got it in stock I decided to get one and use it just to see what the buzz was all about.

Here are my thoughts:

I have oily skin with clogged pores. I don’t break out easily, but I do get pimples here and there especially during the time of the month. Activated charcoal is the enemy of clogged pores. The Charcoal mask totally obliterates them by absorbing the toxins in your skin. It gets deep down into your skin and sucks them all up, leaving your pores feeling nice and soft. I never believe claims like this, until I tried it for myself.

Activated charcoal is also used to treat poison ingestion, cure hangovers (hmmm), treat insect bites, purify water and even whiten teeth, by binding to toxins and chemicals and absorbing them.

Even Skin Tone

I love the way the charcoal mask made my skin evener. This is, clearly, (ha!), a result of my pores ridding themselves of the dirty toxins it had contracted. My skin is usually pretty uneven, and I noticed I had to use less concealer and foundation than normal after I incorporated this little secret weapon into my beauty routine.

Time is more

The longer you let the charcoal sit on your skin, the better. (Within reason, of course.) The longer it sits, the more work it can do.

Worth your money

If you’re hesitant to try out the latest charcoal craze because of the product price tag, rest assured–a little bit goes a LONG way with this product. You’ll get a lot of bang for your buck, making it totally worth the cost. Plus, you don’t need to use it that often. Once or twice a week is all you need to see it’s benefits, though I’ve been using it a few times a week for faster results. There are some really great budget-friendly alternatives, too! (See below.)

Review: L’Oreal Infallible Foundations Comparisons: Pro-Matte vs. Pro-Glow // jessiepink1028

Hey y’all! I was going to write this post a while ago when the Pro-Glow first launched a few months ago, but I never got around to it until now. I’m really sorry! But here are my thoughts and opinion about both the L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte and theL’oreal Infallible Pro-Glow foundations.

I have created a table that basically summarizes each foundation. I divided the foundation comparison into 7 categories: price, packaging, shade selection, application, coverage, finish, wear time/test. If you want to read more details or my additional thoughts and tips on each foundation, you can scroll past the table and continue reading. I hope this post will provide some insight to those who have yet to try any of these foundations and are wondering which one they should try and to those wondering if they should add any of these to their collection of foundations.

Comparison Chart

Pro Matte Pro Glow
Price Both foundations cost $12.99 for 1 oz
Packaging Both foundations come in a squeeze tube
Shade Selection Both foundations have 12 shades

The shade names may match between the foundations but the actual shade color does not match

Pro Matte shades are 101-112, Pro Glow shades are 201-212

Application Both foundations apply more evenly with a makeup sponge
Coverage Medium-Full Light-Medium
Finish Matte Glowy or Natural, if set with powder
Wear Time/Test Claims to last 24 hours, but only lasted ~10 hours on my skin Claims to last 24 hours, but only lasted ~5 hours on my skin

Shade Selection

I didn’t buy all 12 shades of both foundations to swatch, but I mentioned in the comparison chart that the shade names and numbers may correlate between all three but despite that, the shades may not actually match between the foundations.

Additional Thoughts…

Of both the foundations, Pro Matte looks and feels the best on my skin. I have very oily skin and the Pro Matte sits well on my skin keeping me matte longer than other foundations in my collection, but I wish that the shade selection was better. Yes, there are 12 shades in the range; which is decent for a drugstore foundation, but it’s nowhere as much as some of the other drugstore foundations like the Maybelline Fit Me or the Nyx Total Control. I find that most of the shades in the Pro Matte line have yellow/warm undertones. Also, the progression from the first shade (101) to the last (112) isn’t gradual enough – as in the first two shades are for fair and fair/light skin and then the third shade, 103, is for medium skin. Where did light and light/medium go? I need a shade for medium skin tones, but the foundation is a little too yellow for me, this sucks because I have tried shades 106-108 and can’t find a shade that’s close enough to match me. The best shade match for me was 108 when I’m self-tanned. But, when it dries, it would oxidize and be orange. I could use the medium skin tone shades, but I wish it would have a little more pink undertones…*sigh*

Have you tried any of these foundations? If you have, which one is your favorite?

I would love to know if any of you have tried any of these foundations and if you’re experiencing the same issue that I am with shade selection. If you have any tips for longer wear time, please let me know! I usually don’t wear makeup longer than 12 hrs in a day but it would still be nice if I could get these foundations to last closer to the amount of time it claims to last. I hope this review/comparison was helpful and I’ll talk to y’all later~

Review: Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Foundation // jessiepink1028

Hey y’all!!! As this is being my first blog review on a product, I’m super excited to be reviewing Rihanna’s new foundation from her line, Fenty Beauty. RiRi has been working on this line for 2 years and it has finally launched! After watching and reading about this foundation, I wanted to see if the foundation was worth the hype myself. I walked into Sephora and saw that there were 40 SHADES in the foundation and most of the shades were sold out! This impressed me, so I knew I had to try it. Here are my thoughts on the foundation, “Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation.”

This foundation retails for $34 at Sephora. I also got free shipping through Sephora because they were out of my shade completely.

After shaking the bottle to mix it up, apply it with a brush, and then blend the rest in with a dampened makeup sponge or your fingers. I like applying with a dampened beauty sponge because it blends the foundation seamlessly. It doesn’t have the best coverage though, if you have a lot of acne scars or hyperpigmentation, I would recommend using a dense kabuki brush and then blend the rest in with a beauty blender. This foundation also builds nicely to full coverage with a second layer.

It takes a minute for it to dry and set all the way. Just like the name states, the finish is soft and matte like a super subtle satin. It’s not a pearl, and it doesn’t shimmer, but it does have more oomph than a regular matte. I think it makes the skin look like it was just washed, dried and kissed by a magical makeup angel, #blessed.

Would I recommend it?

Basically, Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation is the shit! I can’t recommend it enough.
