How to: Winged Eyeliner for Monolids

Here’s my step-by-step guide for how I create a winged eye for monolids. My personal favorite liner to work with is the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner. It’s a liquid liner pen that’s easy to use and always produces beautiful results.

Step 1

While I know some people like to start right at the inner corner of the eye, I personally like to start at the outer end, creating somewhat of a blueprint before I commit to drawing the entire line. I begin by drawing a diagonal line from the corner of my eye about halfway up toward the end of my eyebrow. This helps me map out the specific angle and shape of that flirty flick!

Step 2

Next, I like to create the entire ‘flick’ shape by drawing another line that meets with the first line to create a point. It’s best to draw this shape first and make sure you’re happy with it; if you’re not, you haven’t gone too far yet and you can use a Q-tip to erase and start over.

Step 3

Now that I’m happy with the shape, I’m going to go into the inner corner of my eye and begin drawing a line that extends all the way over to meet that second line you drew, finalizing the overall shape of my winged liner. Here’s a tip: When you’re drawing along your lash line, let the pen or brush fluidly move along the curve of your eyeball. This way you’ll create the perfect liner that suits the shape of your eye.

Step 4

All that’s left now is to fill in this shape I’ve created! I’m always careful to press the pen into my lash line really well so there are no gaps between my lashes and the liner.

Step 5

I like to tight line my eyes with a black eyeliner pencil and if I need to clean up, I will use concealer and concealer brush.

My Night Routine // jessiepink1028

8:00 pm Getting Home

My boyfriend and I normally eat out right after work so we don’t eat dinner at home. Around 8:00pm My boyfriend and I come home. We go straight to our room and I immediately change into comfy clothes.

After that, I get into bed and cuddle with my boyfriend. We talk about our day and also sit on our phones and scroll through social media/blog/watch youtube videos.

10:00 pm Getting Unready

Around 10:00 pm is when I start getting unready. I first take my Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Cleanser & Makeup Remover. After that, I wash my face with my Clarisonic Smart Profile and Cetaphil Daily Face Cleanser. Then I hop in the shower. I wash my hair two times a week with Shimmer Lights Conditioning Shampoo and Conditioner for Blonde and Silver Hair. I use a loofa and Cantu Hydrating Body Wash to wash my body. On days that I shave my legs I use my Schick Hydro Silk Razor and EOS Shave Cream.

11:00 pm Goodnight! ♥

Review: Charcoal Peel-off Mask // jessiepink1028

Ah yes, the infamous charcoal peel-off mask everyone on social media has been raving about. My mom owns a beauty supply store and when she got it in stock I decided to get one and use it just to see what the buzz was all about.

Here are my thoughts:

I have oily skin with clogged pores. I don’t break out easily, but I do get pimples here and there especially during the time of the month. Activated charcoal is the enemy of clogged pores. The Charcoal mask totally obliterates them by absorbing the toxins in your skin. It gets deep down into your skin and sucks them all up, leaving your pores feeling nice and soft. I never believe claims like this, until I tried it for myself.

Activated charcoal is also used to treat poison ingestion, cure hangovers (hmmm), treat insect bites, purify water and even whiten teeth, by binding to toxins and chemicals and absorbing them.

Even Skin Tone

I love the way the charcoal mask made my skin evener. This is, clearly, (ha!), a result of my pores ridding themselves of the dirty toxins it had contracted. My skin is usually pretty uneven, and I noticed I had to use less concealer and foundation than normal after I incorporated this little secret weapon into my beauty routine.

Time is more

The longer you let the charcoal sit on your skin, the better. (Within reason, of course.) The longer it sits, the more work it can do.

Worth your money

If you’re hesitant to try out the latest charcoal craze because of the product price tag, rest assured–a little bit goes a LONG way with this product. You’ll get a lot of bang for your buck, making it totally worth the cost. Plus, you don’t need to use it that often. Once or twice a week is all you need to see it’s benefits, though I’ve been using it a few times a week for faster results. There are some really great budget-friendly alternatives, too! (See below.)

Review: L’Oreal Infallible Foundations Comparisons: Pro-Matte vs. Pro-Glow // jessiepink1028

Hey y’all! I was going to write this post a while ago when the Pro-Glow first launched a few months ago, but I never got around to it until now. I’m really sorry! But here are my thoughts and opinion about both the L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte and theL’oreal Infallible Pro-Glow foundations.

I have created a table that basically summarizes each foundation. I divided the foundation comparison into 7 categories: price, packaging, shade selection, application, coverage, finish, wear time/test. If you want to read more details or my additional thoughts and tips on each foundation, you can scroll past the table and continue reading. I hope this post will provide some insight to those who have yet to try any of these foundations and are wondering which one they should try and to those wondering if they should add any of these to their collection of foundations.

Comparison Chart

Pro Matte Pro Glow
Price Both foundations cost $12.99 for 1 oz
Packaging Both foundations come in a squeeze tube
Shade Selection Both foundations have 12 shades

The shade names may match between the foundations but the actual shade color does not match

Pro Matte shades are 101-112, Pro Glow shades are 201-212

Application Both foundations apply more evenly with a makeup sponge
Coverage Medium-Full Light-Medium
Finish Matte Glowy or Natural, if set with powder
Wear Time/Test Claims to last 24 hours, but only lasted ~10 hours on my skin Claims to last 24 hours, but only lasted ~5 hours on my skin

Shade Selection

I didn’t buy all 12 shades of both foundations to swatch, but I mentioned in the comparison chart that the shade names and numbers may correlate between all three but despite that, the shades may not actually match between the foundations.

Additional Thoughts…

Of both the foundations, Pro Matte looks and feels the best on my skin. I have very oily skin and the Pro Matte sits well on my skin keeping me matte longer than other foundations in my collection, but I wish that the shade selection was better. Yes, there are 12 shades in the range; which is decent for a drugstore foundation, but it’s nowhere as much as some of the other drugstore foundations like the Maybelline Fit Me or the Nyx Total Control. I find that most of the shades in the Pro Matte line have yellow/warm undertones. Also, the progression from the first shade (101) to the last (112) isn’t gradual enough – as in the first two shades are for fair and fair/light skin and then the third shade, 103, is for medium skin. Where did light and light/medium go? I need a shade for medium skin tones, but the foundation is a little too yellow for me, this sucks because I have tried shades 106-108 and can’t find a shade that’s close enough to match me. The best shade match for me was 108 when I’m self-tanned. But, when it dries, it would oxidize and be orange. I could use the medium skin tone shades, but I wish it would have a little more pink undertones…*sigh*

Have you tried any of these foundations? If you have, which one is your favorite?

I would love to know if any of you have tried any of these foundations and if you’re experiencing the same issue that I am with shade selection. If you have any tips for longer wear time, please let me know! I usually don’t wear makeup longer than 12 hrs in a day but it would still be nice if I could get these foundations to last closer to the amount of time it claims to last. I hope this review/comparison was helpful and I’ll talk to y’all later~

Review: Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Foundation // jessiepink1028

Hey y’all!!! As this is being my first blog review on a product, I’m super excited to be reviewing Rihanna’s new foundation from her line, Fenty Beauty. RiRi has been working on this line for 2 years and it has finally launched! After watching and reading about this foundation, I wanted to see if the foundation was worth the hype myself. I walked into Sephora and saw that there were 40 SHADES in the foundation and most of the shades were sold out! This impressed me, so I knew I had to try it. Here are my thoughts on the foundation, “Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation.”

This foundation retails for $34 at Sephora. I also got free shipping through Sephora because they were out of my shade completely.

After shaking the bottle to mix it up, apply it with a brush, and then blend the rest in with a dampened makeup sponge or your fingers. I like applying with a dampened beauty sponge because it blends the foundation seamlessly. It doesn’t have the best coverage though, if you have a lot of acne scars or hyperpigmentation, I would recommend using a dense kabuki brush and then blend the rest in with a beauty blender. This foundation also builds nicely to full coverage with a second layer.

It takes a minute for it to dry and set all the way. Just like the name states, the finish is soft and matte like a super subtle satin. It’s not a pearl, and it doesn’t shimmer, but it does have more oomph than a regular matte. I think it makes the skin look like it was just washed, dried and kissed by a magical makeup angel, #blessed.

Would I recommend it?

Basically, Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation is the shit! I can’t recommend it enough.

My Morning Routine

6:45 am Turn off alarm

Every morning my alarm goes off at 6:45 am. Like most people I use my phone as an alarm clock. So the first thing I do is turn it off and then cuddle with my boyfriend (yes, I do live with my boyfriend– blog post coming soon about that!). At this point we are on our phones and talk about what we’re going to do for that day.

7:30 am Get up and walk Spirit

By 7:30 my boyfriend and I get up and go outside to get my dog, Spirit and take him out to the dog park near our home. We stay there for about an hour. Spirit enjoys going out and playing with other dogs to get all his puppy energy out. He loves rough housing with other big dogs and is very friendly with people as well as other dogs. At first my boyfriend and I didn’t know how well he was going to react to other dogs because it was his first time at a dog park, but he does really well and has fun! That’s the important thing!

8:30 am Go home and take a shower

By the time Spirit, Kevin, and I all get home from the dog park, my mom is up and making Kevin (my boyfriend) and I breakfast. As she’s making breakfast we go upstairs and take a nice shower after we play with Spirit.

9:00 am Get ready for the day

Around 9:00 I get out of the shower and towel myself off. After I towel myself off, I wrap my hair in the towel and I figure out what to wear for that day. Once I figure out what to wear I put the clothes on and start doing my hair and makeup. My shirt is from Forever 21, my dark purple bralette is from Kohl’s, my pants are also from Forever 21, My necklace and hoop earrings are from Icing. My shoes are from Target from the kids section because I have really small feet hahaha. I use the Garnier Fructis Style Smooth Air Dry Anti-Frizz Cream and then blow dry my hair straight. After I blow dry it, it’s still a little frizzy that I run a straightening iron through my hair to help with the frizziness. With my makeup I like to keep it simple. I do my eyebrows first with my Anastasia DipBrow Pomade in Ebony. Then I use my Maybelline FaceStuidio Master Conceal in Light/Medium to clean up my eyebrows. Then I do my winged eyeliner using my Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner. I then put on a few coats of Benefit Roller Lash mascara and L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara both in black. I use my Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation which gives me a nice demi-matte finish and to top it all off highlighter and lipstick! I use the Becca x Jaclyn Hill highlighting palette in the color Champagne Pop on the cheeks and nose and cupids bow and inner corner of my eye. In this picture I decided to wear my EBIN 24 hour Liquid Lipstick in the color Hollipop. Spray a matte setting spray and voila!

Processed with MOLDIV

Between 9-11 (Mondays and Wednesdays) I finish up any last minute homework, print stuff out etc.

(Mondays/ Wednesdays) 11;10-12:30 Go to school

I go to a community college and I have my English class on Mondays and Wednesdays. Right now we’re on a grammar review and we have a test next week. Got to prepare for that soon!

2:00 pm Work

My boyfriend and I go to work at 2:00. Luckily, we work together so it’s not so bad. On Fridays and Saturdays we open and close the store.

GRWM: Date Night

Processed with MOLDIV

Hi Loves,

Today I thought I’d share my Glam / Date night kind of look. I went on a date last night with my boyfriend, so I thought I’d share with you the typical kind of thing I’d wear for this kind of occasion.

Base– Benefit POREfessional and Benefit POREfessional Matte Rescue
Foundation- Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

Concealer– Maybelline Master Conceal by Face Studio

Powder– NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat

Bronzer– Rimmel Natural Braonzer

Highlighter– Becca x Jaclyn Hill Prosecco Pop

Brows– Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Ebony

Eyeliner– Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner

Mascara– Benefit Roller Lash Mascara

Lips– EBIN Matte Liquid Lipstick

I did an egg and coconut oil hair mask and then shampooed and conditioned my hair with Pantene shampoo and conditioner. I then used some leave in conditioner by it’s a 10 and blow dried and straightened my hair. I then used Gorilla Snot Gel and sleeked my hair back into a simple high ponytail. Topped it off with my denim looking fry hat.

Because our date was just going to walk around downtown I decided to go with something casual. I’m wearing my Hollywood tank top from Forever 21 and some flower printed black jeggings from Walmart. Over the tank top because I didn’t know if the restaurant we were going to was going to be cold or not, I decided to wear an army green color jacket from American Eagle. I then paired it my black and white converses. For jewelry accessories I’m wearing some gold hoops that says “Babe” on it and a gold circle chocker

And that is my completed look for an ideal date night/ going out glam look. I’d love to know your thoughts and what you think. Also if you have any tips for me!

May Favorites 2017

It’s crazy to think we’re already at the end of May! I want to first say CONGRATULATIONS to the Class of 2017! Y’all did it! Next stop: Adulthood and College! I can’t wait to see what life has in store for y’all! Second: I want to say sorry I haven’t been posting in a really long time, college and work has been super crazy and I haven’t had a lot of time blogging. I’m back with my monthly favorites again! I don’t have many favorites for this month, bet let’s get started!

Like I said before, I don’t have a lot of favorites, but I’ve been loving my Stila Stay All Day Eyeliner! I love how dark and opaque the liner is. It’s also very versatile. The brush tip is very flexible so you can have a nature thin liner or a thick, dramatic liner.

I also have been loving this new matte liquid lipstick by Kiss New York Professional. The liquid lipstick line is called Celeste and the color I’ve been obsessed with is called Peanut Brittle.

My next favorite is an organization thing. I’ve been really in love with planning my life accordingly but in fashion! It’s not just a planner, but it’s called bullet journaling. I love how flexible bullet journaling is! It’s a planner, a diary, a sketchbook, and a to-do list! You can customize it to your lifestyle.

This month I’ve been reading the book Evermore by Alyson Noël. It’s about a sixteen-year-old, Ever Bloom and how her life changes forever after a car accident that kills her entire family. She moves to California and posses psychic abilities. This book is the first book to the Immortal series. Alyson Noël does an amazing job with building suspense and curiosity to hold her readers’ attention throughout this book. I would definitely recommend this book!

Well y’all that’s it for this month, I hope y’all have a wonderful day!

In-Flight Beauty Routine

As summer is approaching, I’m sure many of y’all including myself will be traveling a lot for vacation. I have put a few tips together to share with y’all, so your skin will not be so stressed out as it already is from flying.

Tip #1: Pack travel sized products you already use at home. For example get empty travel sized bottles from Amazon or a beauty supply store. This is because your skin is used to the products and you know you will not be breaking out. You don’t want to stress your skin any more than it already is.

Tip #2: Use a makeup remover or a water cleanser with a cotton pad to remove your makeup.

Bonus Tip: Soak the cotton pads with the water cleanser and put it in a zip lock bag.

Tip #3: Ask a flight attendant for a hot towel. Place the hot towel over your face and leave it on for about 10 minutes. This will help open up your pores, so that your skin will absorb the products better.

Tip #4: Moisturize your skin with your favorite moisturizer. Don’t forget your lips either, so use your trustee lip balm.

Tip $5: Use an overnight face mask. Overnight face masks are great because you can have it on while you sleep.

Tip #6: After you wake up from your nap, you can use your cleansing water and cotton bad again and spray a facial mist all over your face.

Tip #7: For makeup keep it light and simple. I like to use a cushion foundation because it’s quick and easy and great for traveling. Next, use an eyelash curler and mascara and lipstick and some brow powder.

Hope y’all have/had a great flight!!!
